Trapp Estate Coconut Grove, FL

Trapp Estate Coconut Grove, FL

The Trapp Estate in Coconut Grove South Florida is one of our most impressive jobs we’ve completed. The home is located on South Bayshore Drive in the heart of Coconut Grove South Florida. The home sits on a three-acre lot. We had the pleasure to work with one of South Florida’s top construction companies. With all the planning, this landscape lighting project lasted around 6 months. We worked very closely with a local landscape architect on the landscape and lighting design.

We decided to use LED spot lighting also called up lighting on most of the landscape. Among professional lighting designers, up lighting is the most common and widely used type of outdoor landscape lighting. Up lighting involves using a light fixture mounted in or on the ground at the bottom of the object you intend to light, beaming upward. This method is especially useful for lighting up trees, shrubs, walls, houses, fences and pillars. Up lighting can create specific light beam spreads or patterns, and create different effects.

Miami Landscape Lighting used different levels of light to provide soft transitions between areas to keep the apparent levels of light cohesive. Levels of light from one object to another or visual field to visual field, is key that lets our lighting designers successfully create depth, focal points, triangulation and framing, and add dimension.

Coral Gables Front Yard LED Lighting Design

Coral Gables Front Yard LED Lighting Design

We had the pleasure to illuminate this one of a kind property in the old Coral Gables, blocks away from the Biltimore Hotel South Florida. This prestigious corner lot was illuminated in both front and back yard with low voltage LED landscape lighting. The owner is an architect here in South Florida and is very knowledgeable with artistic concepts and designs such as landscape lighting. He played a major role in this project. We were grateful for his assistance. Before he contacted us he installed a brand new landscape design for both front and back yard with a well-known landscape design company. The garden is immaculate with the freshly installed landscape and new LED outdoor lighting.

There are many aspects to a well-designed garden and outdoor lighting system. We are technically contractors but we like to consider ourselves lighting designers. One of the reasons an architect hired us because they prefer a designer to artistically install their landscape lighting. Our philosophy when doing a landscape lighting job for a client is to create a portrait of their landscape and their home using light. We are the artist using light as our brush and the client’s home as our canvas. The end result is like a movie set, painted with light, that the homeowner will appreciate and admire every night.

At this property in Coral Gables South Florida, we used the architectural lighting technique or also called wall lighting. Lighting the fence or walls of a property will often soften the harshness and help eliminate the black holes that develop around behind the landscape. It also will help define the perimeter and create […]

Pinecrest South Florida LED Up-Lighting

Pinecrest South Florida LED Up-Lighting

, ,

The City of Pinecrest, South Florida is an extremely dark neighborhood. Combined with the large lots and few city and street illumination it is very dark at night. Landscape lighting is a necessity in this area of Miami Dade. It provides beauty but also very importantly security.

This particular home is in the heart of Pinecrest near my alma mater Gulliver Preparatory. I drove by this home hundreds of times growing up. The beautiful mature oak trees and beautiful vegetation always impressed me. This particular home sits on almost an acre. It is practically hidden amongst all the beautiful landscape.

We installed our black 6061 anodized aluminum LED spotlight in the front and backyard, and pool area. The home also has a beautiful pathway that goes around almost the entire property. This path leads to an area I like to call the Zen garden. It has a beautiful fountain and is very peaceful. We illuminated the entire path with our LED path light. The path light only uses 1 watt of energy and is as bright as a 20-watt halogen bulb. The home had existing 110 volt also known as high voltage spotlights on many of the larger trees. The fixtures where very old and were not working properly. Our client wanted to upgrade to LED for those fixtures. We replaced all of them with high voltage LED spots.

The entire yard is 80% more efficient than before. The LEDs are all rated for 50,000 hours.
